Recommended to Leslie...

  • Every Last One - Anna Quindlen - Mom gave this to me... grab your box of Kleenex and I don't mean the travel size.
  • The 19th Wife - David Ebershoff

From Publishers Weekly - "This sweeping epic is a compelling and original work set in 1875, when one woman attempts to rid America of polygamy. Ebershoff intertwines his tale with that of a 20th-century murder mystery in Utah, allowing the two stories to twist and turn into a marvelous literary experience."

Movie from Mary...

Here's one you don't want to miss:
  • As It Is in Heaven - a Swedish film worth the sub-titles....very poignant and a stunning portrayal of human foibles.

More movies...

  • The Young Victoria
  • Mrs. Brown
The former is about the rise of Queen Victoria to the crown and her romance with husband Albert.  The latter of the years following the loss of her husband and her friendship with John Brown.  Both well done and nice to watch back to back.

From the library...

We're movie fiends lately!  Liz picked up Half Nelson for us.  Dark, but very well done.

Showtime series...

  • "Nurse Jackie"
Greg and I are really enjoying this new Showtime series.  Season 1 available on Netflix.

From Noreen...

  • Lethal Legacy - by Linda Fairstein
Harlan Coben, author of the bestselling Myron Bolitar series, reviews Lethal Legacy for Amazon:
Okay, there are two kinds of people reading this review: those who have already read Linda Fairstein and her terrific series featuring sex crime unit ADA Alexandra Cooper and her sidekick, NYPD Detective Mike Chapman, a man so real to me I once had him help out one of my own fictional characters. And those of you who, uh, haven't.  For those who have, let's make this quick. Lethal Legacy is great. No worries. It is filled with what you already love about her books--the characters, the plot twists, the suspense, the heightened realism that only someone who has truly walked the walked (for those living in a cave, Linda Fairstein was the ADA who helped create the sex crimes unit in Manhattan) can provide.
